The Vale Celebrates the Coronation

This weekend events and activities will take place across the Vale of Glamorgan to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III on Saturday 6th May.

Fifteen communities have applied for road closures, for private events, whilst a number of groups and communities are holding their own celebrations across the weekend.

Penarth will hold a Coronation Fireworks event at 9pm on Saturday, whilst Cowbridge will hold a Coronation Parade through the Town on Sunday 7th May from 11:30am, before a picnic and party on Bear Field from 12pm – 4pm.

Penarth Athletic Club has organised a weekend of events, including showing the Coronation on their big screens, alongside a family fun day on Saturday 6th May. On Sunday, they’ll continue the celebrations with inflatables, games and activities from midday, with live music from Trade street from 5pm.

Across the weekend, A Royal Music Festival will be taking place at the White Hart and Tudor Tavern in Llantwit Major. With Live music across the weekend for all ages, and a prices and princesses Street Party on Saturday 6th May from 2pm.

In Rhoose on Sunday,  the Community Spirit Group are holding a Teddy Bear Picnic at Milburn Park from 11:30am – 3:30pm, whilst Fonmon Castle is holding an Open House for visitors to see their state rooms and share the story of how King Charles visited as a young man. 

Peterston Community Council is holding a Big Lunch at Peterston Village Hall and Playing fields from 2pm – 5pm, with attendees invited to bring their own picnic.

A number of others events have been listed on the Big Lunch website, including private parties in Barry, Llantwit Major and Penarth. 

If you fancy something different, how about enjoying the return of the Barry Vintage Market on Sunday 7th May. A host of vintage traders will be selling across the Goodsheds site, alongside the usual traders, street food and live music.
