Following the hugely successful Summer of Fun, we’re delighted to bring you the….. Winter of Fun!

These family fun sessions will be held on the beautiful coastline of the Vale with each session celebrating its own global day highlighting issues affecting our seas.

 

SHARK EGGCASE HUNT – JANUARY

Come and hunt and identify shark egg cases washed up along our shore for the Shark Trust UK

When? Saturday 22 January

Where? Ogmore Beach, Vale of Glamorgan

What time? 10:30am-12pm and 12:30-2pm

FOSSIL HUNTING & EVOLUTION – FEBRUARY

Join us on International Darwin Day to learn more about evolution searching and identifying marine animal fossils. What were they like then and do they still exist!

Celebrating World Whale Day and International Darwin Day

When? Saturday 12 February

Where? Dunraven (Southerndown Beach)

What time? 9:30-11am and 11:30am-1pm

Join us to celebrate World Whale Day Day to learn more about the Whales of Wales!

When? Saturday 19 February

Where? Whitmore Bay (Barry Island)

What Time: 10:30am-12pm and 12:30-2pm

SEALS OF SOUTH WALES – MARCH

Join us to celebrate International Day of the Seal to learn more about these brilliant marine mammals found in Welsh waters.

Tying in with International day of the Seal and British Science Week

When? Sunday 6th March

When? 10:30am-12pm and 12:30-2pm

REEF BOGGLE AND RAMBLE – MARCH

Join us to celebrate British Science Week discovering the incredible Honeycomb Worm reefs of south wales at low tide from above and below the water!

When? Saturday 19th March

Where? Ogmore Beach, Vale of Glamorgan

When? 1-2:30pm

SEASIDE SCIENCE FAMILY DAY – MARCH

Join us for a packed family day to celebrate British Science Week with a Rockpool Ramble, Seaweed Search and Strandline Safari

When? Sunday 20th March

Where? Dunraven (Southerndown Beach)

What Time? 10-11:30am, 11:30am-1pm and 2-3:30pm

THE ‘NEED TO KNOW’ INFO…

All events will take place outdoors so wrap up warm. An undercover option will be available in case it rains.

All events are free but places are strictly limited.

Each person attending requires a ticket. Tickets must be booked in advance here. What’s On | Book | Beach Academy (beachacademywales.com)

All children to be accompanied by an adult.

Please only book tickets for the session you wish to attend.

Demand for tickets is always high therefore please be considerate to others when booking to allow others access to tickets. Please make every effort to attend the session you receive tickets for.
